J.C. Muñoz is the Founder and Strength and Conditioning Specialist of the Special Operations Candidate Development (SOCDEV) program.

Coach Muñoz has an extensive and in-depth background in Exercise Physiology and Human Performance, and is also a Marine Corps veteran with over 19 years of combined military and coaching experience.

Following his service in the Marine Corps, J.C. Muñoz was quick to activate his GI Bill in order to begin his education and enrolled at Florida State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Exercise Science with an Emphasis in Exercise Physiology and Human Nutrition. Using his Marine Corps experience, Muñoz quickly laid down the foundation and began his career while earning his degree by working as an undergraduate strength and conditioning assistant. During his first two years he gained valuable experience assisting and training the track and field, cross country, swim, dive, golf, and baseball teams. Following his sophomore year, Coach Muñoz was interviewed and invited to work primarily with the Florida State football program alongside Coach Bobby Bowden, Coach Jimbo Fisher, and the strength and conditioning staff.

After his time at Florida State University, Coach Muñoz continued with the first half of his career as a strength and conditioning coach working with professional, collegiate, and high school athletes.

Wanting to honor the memories of his fallen brothers, Coach Muñoz transitioned from an emphasis in athletic sports, to working and collaborating with the elite military population as a Special Operations Strength and Conditioning Specialist. His primary focus is maintaining a high level of excellence by physically and mentally preparing the best aspiring special operations candidates that our country has to offer.

One of Coach Muñoz’s biggest accomplishments is maintaining a one hundred percent success rate among all “Push the Fight!” scholars. This is a mission and calling first heard during one of his last college football games, and a decision solidified in prayer on his way home from paying respects to his Marine brother (“T”) at Arlington National Cemetery in January of 2020.
